Today I’m traveling through Mexico’s Riviera Maya on my way to Tulum – only my second international trip since 2019 due to pandemic issues. Last October we made it out to Italy where we stopped by Verona before spending most of our time in Venice with day trips out to Murano and Burano islands.
Burano Island, part of Venice municipality and located within its lagoon, is renowned as a fishing village known for its lace artisans. The island’s distinct character can be seen through its vibrant colored houses that line canals; drawing day trip visitors by public vaporetto from Venice.
We were drawn to this charming island for the gorgeous scenery and delectable fresh fish lunch, and spent several hours wandering its shores. Arriving under clear blue skies, we witnessed an array of vibrant hues in every direction – it felt as if we were wandering a vibrant coloring book town! Facades look straight out of a storybook; colors so vibrant it seemed the town lived inside one too!
