Hello friends! Today I am delighted to showcase one of three prints I recently created: Marble Swirl! Inspired by both natural marble surfaces and abstract brush strokes, this pattern comes in five colorways. Available on various fabrics through Spoonflower.
Pantone’s Color of the Year! I created fabric book covers using one yard of Cotton Poplin Marble Swirl Classic Blue fabric.
Supplies you’ll need for creating four book covers are: (1) yard of cotton fabric (I used this pattern in classic blue); roll of craft/banner paper; spray adhesive; an iron and ironing board, fabric scissors and paper scissors and books.
Use your book as a guide and cut craft paper with regular scissors so it is 2 inches larger on either side of its spine, as well as 1 inch larger than its top and bottom edge. Cut fabric using fabric scissors so it folds around it; use light spray adhesive on paper before layering fabric print side out over top with light pressure from fingers for best results. Smooth out any air bubbles.
Use the book to form a crease at the top and bottom of the paper, applying thin line of spray adhesive along each fold so that fabric/paper meets edge of book on each side. Also do this for ends where foldover flaps will form and tuck in any corners that appear.
As a final step, wrap the book cover around its edges to form flaps – that should do it! It really couldn’t be any simpler.
